sure the us and korea are allies, and we’re celebrating the 70th anniversary of alliance this year, but there were and still are some nasty sides to the alliance, mainly on the us’s part and especially how they tend to treat south korea as a strategic position or a pawn for their own benefit.

the split, in fact, was mainly due to the US and the USSR trying to use korea as a strategic position for their own expansion and ideological benefit. as a korean, it absolutely breaks my heart that the split was initially meant to be temporary. it’s saddening to see places like vietnam and germany able to reunify, yet korea is still almost one of the last existing pieces of the cold war. 

while the topic of reunification was entertained by both sides occasionally, and tensions dissipated at times(especially during president kim dae-jung’s sunshine policy), this is out of the question among the younger generations. amidst our own economic stagnation, the costs to reunify and keep the north up in shape to become like the south would be too great. while seniors have a stronger attachment due to having lost friends and family on the other side, or living through the war, this feeling of national unity under one korea is lost in the younger generation due to having no emotional attachment and thinking about the issue more practically. 

it doesn’t help that our current president is on the conservative, political right, and is very pro-us and anti-north korea, which seems to also be fanning the flames of this issue a little bit. in these stances, his party also seems to be trying to suppress awareness of the impacts of american(especially with the jeju massacres and the may 18th incident) and japanese(in the annual march 1st movement speech, he had not mentioned the reason for the movement at all: japan’s oppressive rule on korea, which contrasted the speeches given by previous presidents)colonialism.

however, against all odds, there may be hope. though relations between the three kingdoms were a little different, korea did eventually reunify as one. many koreans online have expressed that korea as a nation has gone through a multitude of events that greatly impacted the peninsula, but ended up coming together in the end. i hope that this happens, though in the most satisfactory and beneficial way for the people.

not to doomer post. but. american politics is like here's a conservative warmonger who wants to burn you alive personally and here's a different conservative warmonger who definitely wouldn't stop someone from burning you alive BUT who might raise the minimum wage by $0.30/hour for you, but only like eight years from now (so re-elect me please!! >w<). yes one of them has to be president they are the only two options we'll let you have. no neither of them will stop the government from killing you or anyone else, but at least one will say "it's kind of bad to kill people :( someone should really do something about that..." while giving the people-killers $20,000,000,000,000 to keep doing it then saying they can't afford to help you at all, but oh shucks, maybe next cycle, if you vote for me again! and also everyone will pretend as though they are extremely different political entities covering two highly polarized ends of the political spectrum despite nearly identical policy views obscured by their slightly different ways of addressing their target audiences, many of whom are also conservative warmongers. and also if you don't vote or vote third party the other guy will win and you will watch as they burn everyone you love alive in the same way they've burned so many strangers so you kind of feel like you have to vote for the other warmonger because even though they both have blood on their hands you'll take a handshake over an uppercut. even if you can still see the bodies piling up behind them. even if you can only save like five people you know and not the thousands of people who are dying in the other room. because you believe the difference between 30,000 and 30,005 is still worth it even though no one needed to die in the first place and no one seems to agree with you. you have to keep living in this world every day. if anything changes it will take decades and it will never be enough. if this takes a toll on you good fucking luck surviving off the generosity of the warmonger state that claims to serve you. happy voting!!

my review of the quarry is Fun game that suffers at crucial moments from being boring. 😪 that is to say the start of the game is loooong i know the characters need to be established but dare i say it, the game was far too ambitious in being able to handle a cast of THAT size. because nick & abigail & even poor jacob (i could even say kaitlyn tbh..) are neglected so much. nick you play as like ONCE, abigail a few times for very short segments and then every time i played jacob he was lost and naked in the forest LMFAOOO.

but it was a really fun game and id highly recommend it, id just say you might have to really push past the start of it and this one godamn segment in the game was so unbelieveably long and boring i felt like i was gonna die. like why are ryan and laura wandering around in this underground mine talking abt we only have an hour to kill chris !!! and then bickering and flirting like GODAMN !! CHOP CHOP LADIES .

my favourite was dylan. didnt expect it. but he was a sweetie pie. my least favourite was ryan. i cant explain it but he had this selfish self-importance about himself that got on my last fucking nerve and maybe that i had to play him so many times and hear him go 'uhhh' so much it had me wanting to ram my head into a wall. emma and her exposition to her instagram fans was more bearable. and besides i love mean girls who go on zip lines. but dylan was such a cutie . abigail shouldve been a lesbian .

its so annoying being american trying to write fic for british characters because its hard making locations work?? like if two places are a 2 hour drive apart, the american in me says thats fine but i know a british person would Not drive that far in one go for a day trip
